Inspiration
Amy’s artwork takes inspiration from wildlife, tropical birds and historical ornate design. Her work has a quintessentially English style merging scenes from nature and blending them with decorative flowers and foliage.
Concept
Amy’s designs focus on bringing back to life elements of historical decorative arts, when pieces were beautifully produced by hand, and mixing them into fresh, colourful, contemporary patterns.
The Medium
Gouache is water-based paint, easy to use and very versatile to work with. Amy first came across gouache paint when she was studying her fashion and textile degree and has not looked back since. It is a wonderful medium; there is so much freedom when designing works and there are many methods and beautiful effects you can achieve with gouache.
Painting & Process
Each piece is created using gouache to give an opaque effect with colourful tones and hints of gold. Gouache works then can be printed digitally to reflect the quality, detail and colour of the original and made into special one-off works.
Amy graduated with a business degree Professional Practice (Art and Design) and a BA (Hons) Art and Design - Fashion and Textiles. She works with boutiques, galleries, craft centres and with individual clients.
Amy has exhibited in a variety of art and design and business shows. She continues to create her hand-painted artworks and exhibit her work. She holds demonstrations of her paintings and also runs a series of exciting art workshops teaching gouache painting ideal for beginners and keen painters alike.
